Pet Care
- Dog Care: (Part One)
-Nutrients:
The six essential nutrients your pet needs for healthy living is water, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. Feeding a puppy, adult dog, and an older dog is different because of their age and weight they have to be fed differently to get the right nutrients. For a puppy if still with its mother its going to have to get adjusted with the change of drinking from its mothers milk to eating dry food. Meanwhile if still feeding on its mothers milk that is all they need until they are about four weeks and substitutes of milk are allowed if they are not with their mother. Slowly introduce the dry food until they get use to it then start increasing the amounts. Puppies are very energetic and require double the intake of energy than an adults does. Meaning they need to be fed food that contains " 25- to 30- percent protein".Puppies should be fed in proportions because the intake of too many calories can cause them to grow fast and cause "bone growth problems". It is okay to feed your puppy treats but not to replace their daily diet the rest should be their puppy food with the nutrients needed. When it comes to feeding your adult dog there are three methods you can choose but it depends for every dog depending on their size and energy output. The portion-control feeding is when you control how much your dog eats this helps weight control. Free-choice feeding is when you allow your dog to eat as much as it wants whenever it wants. Then there is the timed eating method where the food is portioned as well and only for a certain period of time they are allowed to eat then the food is taken away. Knowing all this is not easy but it is some of what needs to be known when taking care of your dog. If this is a hassle then you should rethink about getting a dog because they are like a child they need just as much as care as we do.
